8200 Trail of Robin Hood B+/B £65 (4x400’) Perhaps the rarest film on my lists this month, as this is a 1950 Roy Rogers & Trigger adventure in colour, unfortunately there is a slight downside as this was made in the ultra cheap Trucolor format, the colour looks a bit pinky in places, I think this is more to do with the master used than anything else. Here Roy helps out a Christmas Tree farmer who is being harassed into selling his business

8369 Blue Hawaii B+/B £85 (5x400’) This is the American Viacom print, which means the colours have held up extremely well, it can be a little soft at time when the picture is panned & scanned from the original scope image, but this is one of the best prints I have seen in ages of this fun Elvis Presley musical. Lovers of Elvis will know what songs are featured, but you get the title track, plus many more

8401 The Jolson Story B+ £140 (5x600’) Brilliant Hollywood take on the immortal singer Al Jolson, played brilliantly by Larry Parkes, who mimes seamlessly to actual Jolson vocals. We see him growing up from a boy to a fully fledged world class entertainer. The 8mm print is outstanding, recommended

8676 G.I. Blues B+ £110 (5x400’) OB Superior U.S. Viacom print of this fine Elvis Presley musical which mirrored in some way Elvis’s time in the U.S.Army, some fine songs along the way too!

8677 Blue Hawaii B+ £110 (5x400’) OB U.S. Viacom print of this fine Elvis Presley musical set in colourful Hawaii, in perhaps one of Elvis’s best known films, great music too!

8989 The Amorous Milkman B+ £70 (5x400’) Fun sex comedy from 1975 and stars some of the best known British stars of the day, Diana Dors, Julie Ege, Bill Fraser & Brendan Price as the randy Milkman, the 8mm print from Iver is still in nice condition too!

8273 Maxie B+ £70 (3x600’) OB Glenn Close stars in this 1985 comedy ghost story, she moves into a new apartment with her husband (Mandy Patinkin), and when the batty old lady from the apartment above (Ruth Gordon) tells them of a flapper from the 1920’s who used to live in their apartment, who died a day before a big Hollywood audition, she realises that there may be a reason for her strange behaviour since she moved in, as  the ghost of Maxie can take over her body, with some funny consequences, and the only way she will leave, is if she gets her audition she never had. Well made, and a nice 8mm optical print too!

8274 Finders Keepers B+ £40 (2x800’) Michael O’Keefe & Beverly D’Angelo star in this 1984 comedy of a con man on the run from many people who either want money or revenge, or both. Nice 8mm optical print, but the colour is a tad on the warm side in some scenes, but may be the master used for transfer to 8mm

8366 The Internicine Project B+/B £65 (2x800’) PN: Colour is a bit variable, but acceptable, as the main fault looks to be the original grading of the print 1974 thriller starring James Coburn, Lee Grant & Harry Andrews. Former spy Coburn will be promoted to a government advisor, but his new job is threatened by events and people from the past, so he conceives a plan to eradicate them in one night

7754 Babes in Toyland (a.k.a. The March of the Wooden Soldiers) B+ £95 (4x400’) OB Very rare 1934 L&H musical comedy set in a land of fairytale characters

7868 Way Out West B+/B £80 (4x400’) Rare F/L print of this now classic Laurel & Hardy comedy, it has slapstick, music, and a Donkey, what more could you want

8160 Frontier Horizon B+ £60 (2x600’) 1939 western adventure starring a young John Wayne, quite rare now on any format

8394 The Night We Dropped A Clanger B+ £90 (4x400’) OB 1959 British comedy starring Brian Rix (playing 2 roles), Leslie Phillips, William Hartnel & Cecil Parker. A top British spy has a very important mission behind enemy lines, and he just happens to have a Doppelganger lookalike who’s a private in the Army. He is supposed to confuse the enemy, but instead confuses everyone. Rare DCR print of this British farce, and a rare screen outing playing the dapper spy, and his bumbling double for Brian Rix. I’ve never seen another print, so if you collect rare British comedies, this is none rarer!

8395 Citizen Kane B+ £150 (3x800’) Here’s your chance to own an extremely rare F/L print of this classic Orson Welles film, some people say this is the finest film ever made. It’s the story of a Newspaper Tycoon, who utters the word “Rosebud” on his deathbed and reporters scramble to make sense of this word, and the man himself. This is a fine Mountain print, not many F/L ever made, so rare

8404 Top Hat B £65 (3x800’) F/L print of this classic Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers musical, the print has a few marks, but could be cleaned up a lot, if someone spent some time on it. It’s still rare seeing the full print, and the magical numbers are all present, including the great “Top Hat” itself

Barrett. The family of a girl raped and murdered plan to exact their own justice on the man they believe raped and killed their daughter, he’s released through lack of evidence, would he have been safer in prison. Lured to their Pub they run, violent events unfold, doubts creep in, but what happens?

8762 Stagecoach B/B- £65 (2 x V. Full 800’ reels) Although this is a well run print of the famous John Wayne Western, the lines are mainly black ones, and with a good clean, I reckon this print could get a lot better, although it’s still very watchable (I sat and watched the 1^st 20 minutes myself) and it is the F/L print and not the Walton abridged version. Whoever buys this will watch it as is, or put a bit of elbow grease into getting a much better print, still rare even in this condition

8977  3 Nuts In Search Of A Bolt  B+ £80 (4x400’) OB Extremely rare U.S. imported title, this is a screwball comedy from 1964, and stars the famous stripper Mamie Van Doren, so there is a little bit of nudity. I’m not too sure about the plot, as I’ve never come across this Niles print before

8484 Fright B+ £80 (4x400’) This psychological thriller stars Susan George, Honor Blackman and Ian Bannen. A young girl arrives for Babysitting duties at a gloomy old house, which like most old houses (in films at least) are menacing, creaking monstrosities, but the real fun starts when the Father of the child she is sitting for arrives, he’s just escaped from a local mental asylum, hmmm...nice!

8545 Hoppity Goes to Town B+/B £65 (2x800’) Fleischer animated feature from 1941, Hoppity is a Grasshopper who returns home to the big city, only to realise the Human’s want to build a skyscraper over his home. The colour is just about OK, it helps this is animation, but it’s as it was first printed

8615 Kill Rommel B+/B £65 (4x400’) OB Anton Diffring stars in this action packed 1969 WW2 movie, which comes in its original deluxe packaging, which is rare in itself

8662 The Great St. Trinian’s Train Robbery B+ £65 (4x400’) OB PN: This has an early 70’s Red Bias look to the film (it shows up more in night scenes), and it is a tad soft on focus in places Frankie Howard stars as a gang boss, who steals a train load of cash, and hides it in what he thinks is a deserted school, only to find out later he’s left it in the worst place possible, “St. Trinian’s School for Girls”! Very rare find, the print has its faults, but to see a “St. Trinian’s” film on 8mm is very rare!

8667 Carry on Abroad B+/B £75 (4x400’) OB The Carry On gang head for the Spanish resort of “Ells Bells”, where the Hotel is far from finished, the food is awful as is the weather, what else could go wrong, surely the Hotel itself is safe, what do you think! One of the better Carry On adventures

8756 Tales of Beatrix Potter B+/B £65 (4x400’) OB P.M. Films release of this charming film that centres on characters created by Beatrix Potter, here interpreted in music and dance by the Royal British Ballet. The 8mm print is quite good, and being printed in the mid 1970’s the print looks as good as when it was first printed, the colours are a little muted, but I believe all prints are the same

8739 Man on the Moon B+ £15 PN: Pinky Rare reel this, it was actually giving away through a U.K. paper where you had to collect vouchers for it, the reel tells the story of Apollo 11’s historic landing on the Moon in July 1969, from launch, to touch down, Armstrong & Aldrin walking on the Moon, to lift off. Using actual NASA footage, this is a rare reel these days, and the Pinky look gives it a more other worldly look (in my humble opinion, that is!)

9247 Show Boat B+ £120 (4x600’) PN: Has replacement titles & short sequence at the beginning from 400’ version  Excellent print except for the replacement footage, which has come from an original 400’ version, and therefore is much older than the rest of the Derann F/L print, which is on LPP stock. It works well, and it’s better than no titles at all as 1^st bought. This is the famous Hollywood musical from 1951 and stars Howard Keel, Kathryn Grayson, Ava Gardner & Joe E. Brown, some great tunes, especially ‘Old Man River’, classic!

9172 (Carry On) Don’t Lose Your Head B+ £45 (2x800’) PN: Has some Fade, thus price Not originally with the ‘Carry On’ moniker attached this is perhaps the best the ‘Carry On’ gang ever made, as it’s a parody of ‘The Scarlet Pimpernel’ stories, here transposed into ‘The Black Fingernail’, who is saving the French Aristocrats from the Guillotine during the French revolution. It stars Sid James, Kenneth Williams, Jim Dale, Joan Sims etc. It’s a shame the 8mm print hasn’t survived better, but it’s a Powell Film print from the mid 1970’s, no LPP around then
