8369 Blue Hawaii B+/B £85 (5x400’) This is the American Viacom print, which means the colours have held up extremely well, it can be a little soft at time when the picture is panned & scanned from the original scope image, but this is one of the best prints I have seen in ages of this fun Elvis Presley musical. Lovers of Elvis will know what songs are featured, but you get the title track, plus many more

9247 Show Boat B+ £120 (4x600’) PN: Has replacement titles & short sequence at the beginning from 400’ version  Excellent print except for the replacement footage, which has come from an original 400’ version, and therefore is much older than the rest of the Derann F/L print, which is on LPP stock. It works well, and it’s better than no titles at all as 1st bought. This is the famous Hollywood musical from 1951 and stars Howard Keel, Kathryn Grayson, Ava Gardner & Joe E. Brown, some great tunes, especially ‘Old Man River’, classic!

9846 Genevieve B+ £145 (3x600’) Very rare F/L Derann print of this classic British comedy from 1953 starring Dinah Sheridan, John Gregson, Kenneth Moore & Kay Kendall as they compete in the London to Brighton Vintage car rally. One only, first caller gets it!

10081 North of the Great Divide B £65 (1x400’ & 2x600’) Made in 1950 this stars Roy Rogers as an Indian Agent who must stop greedy Salmon canners from grabbing all the fish that should be the Native Americans who have lived for centuries on what they catch each year just for their needs, very rare 8mm print, the colour is acceptable but the original was shot in the cheap colour process of ‘Truecolor’ you can’t expect miracles

10158 G.I. Blues B+ £140 (5x400’) OB Superior U.S. Viacom print of this much loved Elvis Presley musical which apes his time in the real American Army, many great tunes too, and a bit of comedy to boot, one of his best

8274 Finders Keepers B+ £40 (2x800’) Michael O’Keefe & Beverly D’Angelo star in this 1984 comedy of a con man on the run from many people who either want money or revenge, or both. Nice 8mm optical print, but the colour is a tad on the warm side in some scenes, but may be the master used for transfer to 8mm

9618 Take Me Back to Oklahoma B+/B £70 OB Red Fox print of this 1940 Western adventure starring Tex Ritter, the usual fare, hired killers, secret plans, but very rare here in the U.K.

9726 King Kong B+ £130 (6x400’) OB Made in 1933, this is the classic tale of beauty (Fay Wray) and the beast (Kong), with wonderful stop motion effects by Willis O’Brien, Kong is brought to life, fine 8mm print too!

9790 White Zombie B+ £70 (1x200’ & 3x400’) Extremely rare print of this 1932 horror thriller starring Bela Lugosi & Madge Bellamy. A man turns to a Witch doctor to lure the woman he loves away from her fiancé, but things go wrong and she’s turned into a Zombie slave, atmospheric to say the least

9800 Eternally Yours B+/B £70 (2x800’) David Niven & Lorretta Young star in this 1939 drama, about a woman swept of her feet by world famous Magician ‘the great Arturo’ (Niven), but life is not always magical, extremely rare feature as this was an Import only title to the U.K., and it’s rare seeing either Niven or Young on 8mm

9861 Misbehaving Husbands B+ £65 (2x800’) Harry Langdon stars in this comedy from 1940, in a film about mistaken identity, his wife wants a divorce, reports say he’s been cheating on her with a blonde, but as he’s a store owner, he says all he was doing was taking a blonde mannequin in for repair, on his wedding anniversary!

9878 When’s Your Birthday B+ £70 (4x400’) OB Made in 1937 this comedy stars Joe E. Brown, Marian Marsh & Edgar Kennedy. It’s a comedy about how Astrology rules your life, rare U.S. Niles Films import

10047 Doomed Caravan B+ £65 (3x400’) Made in 1941 this stars William Boyd as ‘Hoppalong Cassidy’, as he stands up for his friends who run a Wagon Train business who is being attacked to try and run them out of business so they can take over a profitable route themselves, rip roaring western action, nice 8mm print too

10161 Bonnie Scotland B+ £140 (5x400’) Together with ‘Way Out West’ this has to be one of the best Laurel & Hardy features of all time, as the boys mistakenly enlist in the Army and end up posted to India at the Northwest Frontier. It is simply delightful viewing from beginning to the end, and with a nice 8mm print as well

10162 Way Out West B+/B £110 (4x400’) F/L version of one of the best Laurel & Hardy features of all time, the comedy is timeless, together with their song and dance routines (who can forget the song ‘The Trail of the Lonesome Pine’), and perfect comedy timing, it’s a must have!

9778 The General B+ £65 (2x800’) Buster Keaton’s famous silent feature from 1926 comes with a very nice print, which has been printed on pre-striped stock, so if you wished to put a soundtrack onto it from the DVD, it shouldn’t  be too hard to do

9970 The Gold Rush B+ £65 (4x400’) Made in 1925 this is one of the best known of all Charlie Chaplin features, the Little Tramp goes to the Klondike looking for Gold, he finds it, but Gold attracts bad men too!

8202 Hannie Caulder B/B+£65 (4x400’) Raquel Welch, Robert Culp & Ernest Borgnine star in this violent revenge western. The 8mm print looks a bit dirty, and has the odd lab mark, but it’s not too bad considering the age of the print

8756 Tales of Beatrix Potter B+/B £65 (4x400’) OB P.M. Films release of this charming film that centres on characters created by Beatrix Potter, here interpreted in music and dance by the Royal British Ballet. The 8mm print is quite good, and being printed in the mid 1970’s the print looks as good as when it was first printed, the colours are a little muted, but I believe all prints are the same

10072 The Battle of the River Plate B/B+ £65 (4x400’) Starring Peter Finch, John Gregson & Anthony Quale this tells the story during the early days of WW2 how smaller British ships took on the might of the German “Pocket Battleships” with their massive guns

10082 A Town Like Alice B £65 (4x400’) Rare 8mm print starring Virginia McKenna & Peter Finch it’s a story set during the early days of WW2, the advancing Japanese army in the far east is capturing a lot of British territory, as well as the many people caught up in it, men are sent to labour camps, but the women and children are forced marched to try and find a camp for them, an Australian from a men’s camp sneaks food to them, and talks about his home in Australia, where after the war she visits, and settles down to life in the Outback. It’s been well run, but could be cleaned up quite well, as it is still an easy watch with the black lines that show up

10118 The Jazz Age B+/B £80 (3x400’) Seriously rare Blackhawk documentary release charting the history of America from 1919 to the 1930’s the so called ‘Jazz Age’. The film looks at Prohibition and the negative fallout as back street speakeasy’s flourished, the rise of bigotry and the resurgence of groups like The Klu Klux Klan etc.

Using actual NASA footage, this is a rare reel these days, and the Pinky look gives it a more other worldly look (in my humble opinion, that is!)

10310 The Glass Mountain B+ £90 (800’ & 1200’) F/L DCR print of this 1949 Michael Denison & Dulcie Gray drama of a composer who while on active service during WW2 is gunned down over Italy, he’s rescued by a beautiful Italian girl, this inspires him to write an Opera set in the region, he returns home to his wife, not sure if he fell in love with the country or his rescuer or both. There’s stunning scenery and some majestic music too!

10312 Great Expectations B+ £175 (2x1200’) Superb David Lean version of the Charles Dickens classic story of a humble orphan who is turned into a Gentleman by a mysterious benefactor, it stars John Mills, Valerie Hobson and Alec Guinness. Made just after the War (1946), and all the cast and crew really give their best, this is perhaps the best version ever to grace Cinemas, and it’s a very good 8mm print from DCR
