The 2026 British Film Collectors Convention was held at its stylish new venue - The Barn Theatre, Oxted, which is just outside of the southern tip of London. Importantly, it is also just outside of any of the London road taxing areas. The venue has its own substantial car parking with overflow for us into the school car park immediately next door. Oxted town centre is only a few minutes walk away and also has a mainline train station connecting to Victoria, London Bridge and Croydon. Junction 6 of the M25 is just a few miles away. All the film collector convention teams came together for this one: the Blackpool Film Collectors Convention, Big Screen Time Revival and the British Film Collectors Convention, plus sponsorship from Film Is Fabulous and John Halfacre of ICSuper8.com. Darren Payne of Dirt In The Gate Movies joined the BFCC team to present the 35mm shows on the day and it has to be said that we have never enjoyed such wonderful 35mm quality previously at a BFCC with the possible exception of when Ben Wales handled the 35mm shows at the Ealing Town Hall. How fitting then that Ben and Darren worked together for the 35mm shows at this 67th BFCC. The end result of this fabulous collaboration were up there to be seen and also to be heard.

Ben Wales set off from Southampton with a van load of sound equipment.

And John and Susanne Clancy converged on Oxted from Wiltshire, with a fully loaded van which included the 24ft screen and frame. Fitting it into The Barn Theatre was going to be tight, so an additional strengthening kit was added to the two central legs and this could only be done with the full screen frame erected. Goodness only knows what their neighbours thought of it all!

The British Film Collectors Convention has been a showcase for the film collecting hobby over its 50 year history, but the conventions can only be successful with the support of the film dealers. At this 67th event the dealers were located throughout the venue. The backstage rooms were a labyrinth where long sought after film treasures and equipment were to be found, along with the ever popular Bring & Buy which seemed to be doing good business all day,

Dominique De Bast took many wonderful photos on the day and we are reproducing them here with his permission.

The Bryan Pearce and Roger Godden stand (below) was in a backstage dealer room with Cliff Perriam.

We setup Patrick Moules (below) in the same backstage room as the Bring & Buy. Patrick has run the Bring & Buy since BFCC number 2 in 1977 so it made sense to have him with his colleagues Simon and John.

The 'Film Is Fabulous!' team from the De Montfort University (below) setup in the garden just outside of the 'Little Barn' dealer room. It was a great move and contributed greatly to the enjoyment and success of the 67th BFCC.

Simon Chambers snapped here (below) in the 'Little Barn' dealer room having briefly sneaked away from the Bring &Buy stand.

The Glynn Jones stand at stage left, was chock full of film (below). As was the Nigel Higgins stand opposite.

Classic Home Cinema were installed in the Theatre bar (below). Phil and Denise Sheard run the biggest Super 8 dealership in the world.

The following three images show the two projection areas; Super 8, 16mm and 4K UHD video projection were downstairs and Darren Payne (Dirt In The Gate Movies) and his sensational 35mm projector were up in the Gallery.

Adrian Winchester (below) in the 'Little Barn' dealer room going through the ritual of unreeling a film to check it for moths!

Dave Locke (below at screen right) gave us a talk about the first ten years of the British Film Collectors Conventions and then presented the Super 8 archive films which commenced with one of the meetings in late 1975 where Stephen Herbert, Paul Van Someren and Mike Smith were working out the details for the first convention to be held at the Holborn Library in January 1976.

Below is the programme for the day but we had to drop the 16mm 'Trailer Explosion' show owing to a 'Projector Explosion'!

The video below firstly shows the overflow car parking at the school next door to the Barn Theatre. Theatre staff were on hand on the day to marshall the cars. We then take a look at how close the town centre of Oxted is, including the train station. It really is just a few minutes walk away. We released this video almost a year before the big day so that everyone had the chance to familiarise themselves with the location and see how easy it was to wander off for a few minutes to pick up a few sandwiches or a rack of lamb.
